MISSED OPPORTUNITIES by Pamela R. Smith This discussion-starter three-part skit focuses on how we frequently miss opportunities to witness. It shows us how we as Christian often are more apt to point people to superficial solutions instead of pointing them to the Savior, Jesus Christ.

BELOW ARE EXCERPTS FROM THE SKIT - You may order the complete skit for $5.00 PART 1 Melvin: (sitting at a table with Steve in the break room) Are you alright. You sure have been quiet this week. STEVE: Yeah, I’m alright. MELVIN: You sure because you kinda blew up at Dan for no reason. I know stuff around here can get stressful but you don’t won’t burn bridges, if you know what I mean. STEVE: (rubbing his head; sighing) You’re right. Man, I don’t know what to do. It just seems like my life is falling apart.
PART 2
EXCERPTS ONLY ERICA: What’s up Sharon? SHARON: (distant as if something is on her mind) Nothing. ERICA: What do you mean nothing? It’s all over the school what happened. SHARON: Then why are you asking me dumb questions? ERICA: Hey, I’m not your enemy. Remember, I’m your friend. SHARON: I’m sorry. I just don’t understand how people can be so cruel. I’m so sick of this school. I know I have never fit in here. I’m not in the “in” crowd but that doesn’t give them the right to be so mean to me. ERICA: You are taking this way too personal. Like my youth pastor tell us at church, don’t take it personal. SHARON: That’s easy for you to say. You are not the butt of all the jokes. It has been never ending since I have been here. I can’t take it any more.
PART 3
Angel: (sitting at a table with Margo) Margo, you are really going to like it here. margo: I sure hope so. The divorce was so hard on the children. I had to uproot them from their home, friends and school. It is a major adjustment. ******************************************************************************* ANGEL: Well, honey you just need to get out and tour the town. There is a great mall, it has everything. Then there is this movie theater that has the most comfortable chairs. It's like being in your own living room. (smiling) Well, with the exception of about fifty strangers you don’t know. Then, there is this little quaint restaurant that I love to go to. It is a hole in the wall but the food is the best in town. I’ll take you there Friday night if you’re not doing anything.
