Christmas Skit for Children (Apprx. 15 mins) THEME: The Birth of Christ SCRIPTURE REFERENCE: Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. TIME: 15 minutes GENRE: Children’s Christmas Skit CAST BREAKDOWN: 1 Adult F, 2M children, 2F children SUGGESTED USE: Christmas Service, services to teach sharing, kindness, etc
SYNOPSIS:
It is the Christmas season and Ms. Thomas decides to teach her class on the
reason why Jesus was born. Carl – (between 5-8) TIA – (between 6-9) John – (between 6-9) Sarah – (between 5-8) PROPS: Table and chairs for students to sit at to color (or desks) small table and chair for teacher, crayon, coloring book images or plain paper, large bag for gifts, wrapped gifts for the students COSTUMES: Comfortable clothes, appropriate for the season SOUND: Ensure you have microphones placed so the actors can be clearly heard. LIGHTING: General stage SETTING: Children’s bible class. Students are at a table coloring. DIRECTOR'S NOTE: You will need a musician and perhaps a few extras for the one song.
Setting: Classroom. Can have desks or one large table for the students. They are coloring. Have a small table and chair for the teacher. Ms. Thomas has the gifts out of sight of the children in a large bag. JOHN: (reaches for a crayon but Carl pulls the crayon closer to himself) Ms. Thomas, Carl keeps hogging all the crayon. CARL: (pulling the crayons closer - has numerous pieces, and three unopened boxes) I need it. MS THOMAS: There is plenty for everyone. (walks to the table and takes two of the boxes that Carl has in front of him and gives one to John and another one to Tia) CARL: That’s mine! MS. THOMAS: It’s for all of us. You must share with others. CARL: But my mom brought it. MS. THOMAS: Your mom donated it to the church. CARL: What do you mean donated? MS. THOMAS: She gave it to us. CARL: I don’t think so. It’s mine.
MS. THOMAS: Okay, you keep working, I’m going to go ahead and get started. Today we are answering the question, “Why was Jesus born?” Each of your pictures, tell a story. Carl, what does yours show? CARL: It is baby Jesus in the crib with Mary and Joseph standing next to it. JOHN: (interrupting, holding up his paper) I’m finished. MS. THOMAS: Good job, John. So, Carl, your picture is showing us the arrival of Jesus on earth. He was in a manger, because as we studied last week there was no room for him in the inn. TIA: That’s because they didn’t make reservations!
CARL: (sounding sad) I like the toys. MS. THOMAS: I know you do, but that is not what the birth of Christ is about. This time of the year should help us remember the sacrifice that God made in giving His only begotten son so that we can live eternally with Him. Every day, we should share, help those less fortunate, and show others the love of God. TIA: That’s right, Carl. (emphasizing the word) Share.
