This full length play is very loosely based on "A Christmas Carol".  (Apprx. 90 mins)

Synopsis: Scarlett Morgan hasn’t had an easy life. She lost her father when she was seven and her mother at the age of 17. She raised her younger sister Michelle and later raised her only cousin, Fred. She grew up poor and was teased by the children in school. At a young age she made herself a promise, “I will never be poor again.” Driven by her desire to never eat Roman Noodles again, she buried herself in her work, soon becoming the owner of the most successful advertising agency in the country.

However, it came with a price. She had become hard, mean, and stingy. Her unkindness was only magnified during the Christmas season. Her employee, Barbara said Scrooge was an ideal employer compared to Scarlett. Michelle, Scarlett’s sister had reached her end and had been praying for a change in Scarlett.

Michelle prayers are answered and two angels visit Scarlett to show her herself and to warn her that if she didn’t change the very thing that she feared would come upon her.

Yes, this Christmas marks a season of change for Scarlett.

Introduction

The Narrator:  - (off stage – voice heard only – stage is dark – soft music is playing as Narrator speaks) At the age of seven Scarlett became an instant provider for her family. Her father had died when she was seven and her mother was killed in an automobile accident just days after Scarlett’s 17th birthday. Being the oldest and refusing to allow her 11 year old sister to be put in foster care, Scarlett became sole provider. She had already been fulfilling the role of mother, because her mom worked two jobs just to keep food on the table. Determined not to remain poor, she took her GED test, applied for scholarships and grants, enrolled in college, and took a job. At age 30, Scarlett also became the sole provider for her fifteen year old cousin, Fred.

After graduating from college, she started her own marketing and branding business. Although she was said to be rude and borderline hostile, within ten years of being an entrepreneur she had the most sought out marketing company in the country.

When her sister Michelle graduated from college she became a part of the company and Scarlett made her a business partner, mostly in an attempt to soften her image to those clients who would not tolerate her brassiness.

Scarlett’s work was her life. She buried herself in it, annihilating anyone who dared to cross her or her clients. She was sharp as a flint, cutting you with her brilliance and insolence. Clients knew that signing with her company meant instant success, for she had no boundaries in doing what she deemed necessary to bring her clients out of obscurity. However, it came with a price. Sort of like selling your soul to the devil, but many reasoned it was worth it as they saw their bank accounts more than triple.

Yes, Scarlett was cold and a miser and made her few employees beg for any raises or days off. She sat at her big desk and elevated chair right among her employees, watching, listening, and berating. Until Michelle came aboard, Scarlett could not keep an employee longer than six months, as she frequently brought them to tears and public humiliation.

Scarlett particularly despised the Christmas season. All the niceties and unnecessary spending. She did not like that Michelle spent company money sending clients cards and Christmas gifts. She did not like that employees expected paid time off. She did not like all the gaudy decorations and singing. Yes, Scarlett did not like Christmas.
